I guess I’ve been out of the loop, cause I had no idea that there is a big trend sweeping the churches - and the trend is laying hands on, praying for, and blessing of pets. At least Diana L. Guerrerro, the author of Blessing Of The Animals: A Guide To Prayers & Ceremonies Celebrating Pets And Other Creatures wants us to believe that there is a trend, because then maybe she’ll sell more of her books. She calls herself a Pet Blessing Expert, which is a profession I’ve never heard of, either. “What do want to be when you grow up, Johnny?” “Mommy, I want to be a Pet Blessing Expert!”
