So Pope Benedict XVI is bound to anger some more people with his latest declaration. He says that being wealthy can actually hinder a person’s chances of salvation. I find this very ironic, since so many bishops and cardinals live in opulent splendor. Doesn’t the Pope himself live pretty high on the hog? Or did he take a vow of poverty like Mother Theresa did?
