The Ulster Volunteer Force, an underground Protestant army responsible for some of the bloodiest attacks of the Northern Ireland Conflict, has signalled its willingness to disarm and become “a force for good.”
Leaders of the British territory’s Catholic minority welcomed the surprise announcement. But they also expressed skepticism, given the UVF’s hate-fueled past and criminal present as well as its breaches of its own 1994 cease-fire declaration.
The British, Irish and US governments called on them to make good on their claims by turning over weapons stockpiles. The IRA completed this act two years ago. I think the sentiment being expressed is, “Yeah? Prove it.”

After six years on the run, Chinese police arrested 62-year-old Jung Myung-seok May 1 in Beijing. Jung Myung-seok is the leader of the cult Jesus Morning Star, and allegedly raped female followers while claiming to be a reincarnation of Jesus Christ. South Korea is asking China to hand him over to South Korean officials so that he can be charged with rape and sexual assault.

I own a pretty nice mustang and I get a bit crazy when it comes to the paint job. Spring is a time of new beginnings, as is evidenced by the small sprouts emerging in my garden. That being said, the patio furniture I had was worn and dated. The cushions had built up some fungus, making outdoor get-togethers out of the question. Instead of having another year of indoor parties, we decided to enjoy the weather by getting a new set of teak outdoor furniture for our patio. Now, we have barbecues every weekend.

The one thing that may be worse than looking at swatches of paint colors for a guy may very well be furniture shopping When I’m looking for something, I’m trying to find something I can get comfortable in, straight up. Of course the woman is the one with a hundred questions about material, stain potential, color, and all of that mess. The only part worse than all this is when you get denied credit to buy something.

For Halloween one year, I wanted to be Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. There were pre-made costumes having everything required to mimic Dr. Thompson’s famous look, but I wanted high quality materials I could use over again. I got the Hawaiian shirt from a local retailer, the fishing hat from a sporting store, and a pair of Wiley X aviator sunglasses to cap it off. The hardest thing to come across was his signature cigarette holder.

Have you ever seen that classic episode of I Love Lucy? You know, the one where the two couples take a trip to Italy. In it, Lucy and Ethel are shown mashing grapes with their feet to make wine, as per Italian tradition. Though I’ve never wanted to smash grapes with my feet, I have wanted to live in beautiful Italy. That is why I have been carefully looking at Villas in Italy in preparation to move over there a few months a year.

Ever since the Fast and the Furious movies, there have been a bunch of amateur tuners entering the world of automotives for the first time. These young gear heads try everything to differentiate their import vehicle from the rest, if not with engine modifications then with Automotive detailing supplies, using them to put elaborate stripes and patterns onto their cars. It was the fad for a few years, but I see it all slowing down now.
